Program 02

Campus Essentials & Safety

Know the rules. Know your rights. Stay in status.

In-person group session · Live or hybridDuring or after orientation

Who it's for

Newly arrived and continuing international students

Once students arrive on campus, the rules multiply. Campus Essentials & Safety is an attorney-led module that focuses on student compliance. Students are given a practical foundation for maintaining their immigration status and protecting themselves in an increasingly complex enforcement environment.

What's covered

  • Maintaining visa status: the rules, the risks, and the most common mistakes
  • The difference between a visa stamp, visa status, I-94 Form, and why it matters
  • Documents every international student should have on hand at all times
  • Social media use and immigration risk: what's being reviewed, and why it matters
  • What to do if approached, stopped, or questioned by law enforcement or immigration authorities
  • Know Your Rights, explained clearly and without alarm
  • On and off campus employment restrictions, including the possible consequences of monetizing social media
  • When to seek help from the international student office, and when to call an attorney

Why it matters

Most status violations aren't intentional, they happen when students don't understand the rules and consequences. This session puts attorney-level guidance directly in front of students at the moment they need it most.
